Obtain your credit report from Experian, Equifax or TransUnion (consumer reporting agencies). The contact information for the company reporting the debt should be included in the report. You should contact the company reporting the debt to determine whether you owe this amount, and if so, how you can pay the obligation. If you don't believe you owe this amount, you should file a dispute with both the consumer reporting agency (CRA) from which you received the report and the company reporting the debt. To learn more about filing disputes with CRAs, please visit the Know Your Rights section on this site.
