The person or injured party who believes he has been harmed or suffered a loss. Plaintiff is the legal term for the person who brings a legal action or files a lawsuit against the person or company who has caused the harm, injury or damage to the person bringing the legal action. Sometimes the plaintiff is referred to as the claimant or complainant. The plaintiff can be one person, a group of people or a company. If the plaintiff wins his or her case, the court issues judgment in favor of the plaintiff and makes the appropriate court order.
